14 July 2010 - WINTER WARMERS FROM BADGER ALES
With evocative names such as Blandford Fly, Pickled Partridge and Poacher’s Choice, each ale has been brewed by Head Brewer Toby Heasman, who continues the tradition of developing ale recipes which change with the seasons.
Winner of the Speciality Beer Category at the Quality Drinks Awards, Blandford Fly (5.2% ABV) has a subtle ginger warmth that creates extra bite and is delicious served with spicy thai food.
Pickled Partridge (4.6% ABV) is Badger’s winter seasonal ale and its nutty, fruity overtones make it a great ale to serve alongside cheese, bread and baked ham. Pickled Partridge is a dark beer with a roasted malt character and a hoppy, slightly spicy flavour, delicious.
A dark, rich, ruby ale enhanced by a touch of liquorice for spicy sweetness and damson for a soft subtly fruity taste is Poachers Choice (5.7% ABV) making it a perfect accompaniment for game, desserts and mature cheese.
Badger First Gold (4.0% ABV) is a classic country ale from Dorset - a clean, fresh, distinctive ale with hints of orange and spice, which uses a single, English hop for purity - a World Champion bottled ale which is perfect with traditional English roasts and pies.
Head Brewer Toby Heasman explains “All Badger ales are made with Dorset Spring water that has been naturally filtered for up to a century through the Cretaceous chalk downs and drawn up 120 feet from the Brewery’s own wells.
“We use only the very best raw, natural ingredients to brew our premium ales, which are created from recipes that have been passed from generation to generation. We are proud of our history and provenance in Dorset and both are fundamental to the fine quality of each one of our premium ales,” concludes Toby.
Badger ales are available from larger branches of Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons & Waitrose with a RRP between £1.59 - £1.99 a bottle.
