28 June 2010 - BADGER’S BLANDFORD FLY IS A WINNER

Brewed to celebrate the infamous biting insect of Dorset’s River Stour, folklore claims the inspired inclusion of ginger was a remedy to the Fly’s bite.

Commenting on Badger’s Blandford Fly the Quality Drink Awards’ judges said “It’s a complex beer that would go very well with Thai food or any food with ginger. It is very much a beer and the ginger does give it a much more complex character and sophistication. The back label is easy to read and is very informative.”

The Quality Drink Awards have become the leading awards for the off-trade, as they recognise and reward the most outstanding alcoholic drink products on sale in the UK.

“We are delighted that Blandford Fly has won the Speciality Beer category of the Quality Drinks Awards in 2010. This is the fourth time Badger has been awarded this prestigious accolade Stinger, Golden Champion and Golden Glory were also championed in 2007, 2002 and 2001. We are proud of our Dorset links and history, and this provenance is fundamental to the fine quality of each one of our premium ales,” said Rick Payne, Brands Marketing Manager at Hall & Woodhouse. “We use only the very best raw, natural ingredients to brew our premium ales, which are created from recipes that have been passed from generation to generation.” adds Master Brewer, Toby Heasman.
